Adventures in Growth: Highlights from CIP’s 2026 Spring Engagement Trips

Every spring CIP students step beyond their everyday routines and into new environments that encourage exploration, connection, and personal growth. This year’s Spring Engagement Trips brought students to exciting destinations where they strengthened friendships, practiced independence, and created memories that will last long after the semester ends.

These regional experiences are a hallmark of the CIP program, providing opportunities for students to apply executive functioning, social, and independent living skills in real-world settings. Whether navigating a theme park, exploring a historic destination, discovering marine life, or enjoying a weekend getaway with friends, students gained valuable experiences while having fun along the way.

CIP Brevard: A Magical Adventure at Walt Disney World Resort

The CIP Brevard community spent an unforgettable day exploring the magic and excitement of Walt Disney World Resort.

From iconic attractions and immersive lands to unforgettable entertainment and dining experiences, students embraced opportunities to build independence, practice flexibility, and enjoy time with friends. Whether exploring favorite attractions, discovering new experiences, or simply taking in the magic of the parks, the trip provided countless moments of connection and fun.

The day highlighted the value of shared experiences and the confidence that comes from navigating one of the world’s most beloved destinations together.

CIP Berkshire: Exploring the Beauty and History of Lake George

CIP Berkshire students traveled to beautiful Lake George, New York for a spring adventure filled with history, recreation, and memorable moments.

The group enjoyed a luncheon cruise aboard the Lac du Saint Sacrement, where one CIP student proudly earned first prize in an onboard dance competition. Students also explored the area’s historic village, played 18 rounds of the classic Around the World Mini Golf toured Fort William Henry (setting of the film The Last of the Mohicans), hiked local trails, and spent time relaxing in Battlefield State Park while taking in the scenic views of Lake George.

From learning about the region’s rich history to celebrating personal achievements and enjoying the outdoors, the trip offered something for everyone.

CIP Bloomington: A Day of Thrills at Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari

CIP Bloomington students headed to Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari for an action-packed day of excitement and adventure.

Students enjoyed world-class roller coasters, thrilling water attractions, and plenty of opportunities to spend time with friends throughout the park. The trip encouraged students to practice decision-making, time management, and social skills while navigating the park independently and creating their own memorable experiences.

From adrenaline-pumping rides to relaxing moments in the water park, the day was filled with laughter, connection, and unforgettable memories.

CIP Berkeley: Discovering Monterey Bay

CIP Berkeley students traveled to the stunning Monterey coastline for a day of exploration and discovery centered around the world-renowned Monterey Bay Aquarium.

The adventure began with a scenic walk through Lovers Point before students explored the aquarium’s incredible exhibits featuring marine life from California and around the globe. Students enjoyed lunch together, spent time exploring the Monterey waterfront, and learned about the diverse species that call Monterey Bay home.

Combining education, social connection, and the natural beauty of California’s coast, the trip provided a meaningful and engaging experience for all involved.

CIP Long Beach: A Desert Getaway to Palm Springs

CIP Long Beach students enjoyed a spring escape to sunny Palm Springs, where they stayed at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Golf Resort Palm Springs.

Students took advantage of the resort’s amenities, including the pool, while also exploring the vibrant downtown area filled with unique shops, restaurants, and local attractions. Along the way, the group made a memorable stop at the iconic Cabazon Dinosaurs, one of Southern California’s most recognizable roadside attractions.

The trip offered a perfect balance of relaxation, exploration, and social engagement, creating lasting memories and strengthening friendships.
