Kayla Cherry, MSOL

Kayla has been with CIP for nearly 7 years and has grown both personally and professionally through multiple roles, special projects, and continued education. Kayla began as a Career Counselor at CIP Long Beach in 2016 and continued on to hold roles and provide support in nearly every department, building her knowledge and familiarity with the ins and outs of CIP programming. Kayla has been the Life Skills & Wellness Coordinator at CIP Long Beach for a number of years now, creating department processes and procedures that have become best practices at multiple CIP locations. She coordinates the Program for Global Engagement, leading staff and students on international travel, which allows all students from our 5 CIP Centers, to participate and gain new cultural experiences in a well-rounded, immersive yet supportive, and safe adventure. In 2021, Kayla even relocated across the country to help guide the CIP Bloomington Center as Interim Assistant Program Director!

Kayla is organized, purposeful, and innovative. From ensuring our physical center is in good order, to event planning, onboarding new staff, welcoming visitors, keeping our technology and systems up-to-date, managing our community partnerships and vendors, and more – we are looking forward to the positive impact Kayla will continue to have in our CIP Long Beach family and beyond.

Kayla has an educational background in Speech-Language-Pathology with an emphasis on pragmatics and expressive/receptive language. She is certified in Business Digital Literacy, Community Emergency Response Training (CERT), First Aid and CPR, and Crisis Prevention.

When Kayla is not working, she enjoys traveling with friends, trying new delicacies, fashion, art, and spending time with her family.
