Alyssa McLean has worked in the field of disabilities for almost a decade as a lead teacher at a private school for students with disabilities, a Vocational Rehabilitation counselor, and now as a Student Advisor. She previously found success working with students and young adults to achieve greater independence and obtain gainful employment.
As a Student Advisor at CIP, Alyssa assists students along their Continuum of Growth while assisting with goal creation and execution, parent communication, and financial management. Alyssa helps guide and mentor the young men and women at CIP by facilitating the weekly goal setting and self-assessment process, tracking and communicating progress, helping teach money management and budgeting, and ensuring that the student has every opportunity to be involved in the direction of their program and services. Alyssa has earned a Bachelor degree in Criminal Justice with a minor in Psychology from University of Central FL in Orlando, FL. Alyssa is currently enrolled in her Master’s program for Rehabilitation Counseling from George Washington University in Washington D.C.. Once Alyssa receives her Master’s degree she will also be certified as a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC). Her expected graduation date is Summer 2023.
When she’s not at CIP, you can find her at home with her kids and husband. She also enjoys the beach and boating, as well as going to amusement parks.
