Paul

After graduating from high school in Weston, Massachusetts, Paul enrolled in CIP Berkshire’s CSTEP program. At CIP, he enjoyed working at a variety of internship locations including The Norman Rockwell Museum and Meals on Wheels where he served dinner to the elderly. He also volunteered at the Berkshire Library, the Pittsfield Business Journal and enjoyed hosting puppet shows for children.

While at CIP, Paul learned independent living skills, how to advocate for himself and participate in group activities with friends. As a CIP student, Paul won awards in recreational excellence, missing only one meeting in 3 years.

Paul’s special interests include watching college basketball and volunteering for autism charities including The Autism Science Foundation, Autism Speaks and ARC of Westchester.

Since 2010, Paul has worked as a human resource assistant at New York Medical College. His duties include document scanning, maintaining files and front desk reception. Paul is also employed by the Center for Autism and the Developing Brain in White Plains, New York where he handles data entry and document filing.

When asked about his CIP experience, Paul mentioned that CIP helped him learn to live with roommates, cook, clean and gain more self awareness.  He also learned more about self regulation and self determination.

In the future, Paul is looking forward to spending more time traveling and learning more about public speaking.
