Amy Scalia, MSEd.

Amy has worked in the fields of education and mental health for over 25 years in many roles including school guidance counselor, community mental health therapist, addictions counselor, staff at residential facilities for youth with emotional and behavioral difficulties, tutor for students with learning differences, and activities coordinator at a nursing home. Amy has previously found success in these varied roles supporting and helping the populations she served to realize and achieve their potential. Amy finds that implementing a person-centered approach to her work along with cognitive-behavioral techniques supports goal-directed outcomes. Additionally, Amy fully believes that “it takes a village” and continually strives to seek and maintain a team approach in her work.

As a Student Support Specialist, Amy helps young adults find success in academics, social skills, life skills, wellness, and careers. Amy helps to identify and focus on students’ changing needs and goals as they work toward independence. She works closely with the individual students, CIP staff, and parents to provide excellent communication and comprehensive support. Amy holds a master’s degree in counselor education and earned undergraduate degrees in education and human development and substance abuse counseling through the State University of New York colleges and universities.

Outside of work, Amy enjoys spending time with her family, including her husband and four children. She is busy and well-connected to the community through the many activities her children participate in. Amy enjoys fitness and also enjoys cooking and trying new recipes or restaurants. She enjoys planning and taking trips to new places and is eager for any new adventure, especially involving hiking and historic places.
