Skylar Maxwell, B.A.

Skylar has worked in the field of Social and Human Services for 5 years as an Advisor, Mental Health Rehabilitation Specialist, and Case Manager. She previously found success working with foster youth, many of whom had learning differences, in a mental health setting.

As a Student Advisor at CIP, Skylar assists students, families, and Regional Centers in fully supporting the student’s goals of independently transitioning into the community by providing case management support and supported living services. Skylar assists students in a variety of settings in strengthening executive functioning skills, independently managing medications, and building financial literacy skills. Skylar has found success working with young adults on the spectrum and with Learning Differences through utilizing age/developmentally appropriate practices and by incorporating arts, personal interests, and authenticity with students’ general scope of themselves and the world.

Skylar is a first-generation college student who has earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from California State University, Long Beach in Long Beach, Ca. Additionally, she has earned an Early Childhood Education Associate Teaching Certificate from Long Beach City College in Long Beach, Ca. When she’s not supporting young adults’ transition into independence, you can find her reading, playing volleyball, and spending time with her loved ones.
