Sharona Sommer, C.P.C.

Sharona has worked in the field of Special Education for over 25 years supporting students and families in various positions throughout her career.

She previously founded and operated her own family coaching practice, where she had the privilege of working with families with neurodiverse teens and young adults to improve their relationships and reach their personal goals. For the past 12 years, Sharona has worked for CIP in the roles of Head Student Advisor, National Director of Family Services and currently Director of Learning & Development.

As Director of Learning & Development, Sharona partners closely with Human Resources to oversee employee training, onboarding, and other learning initiatives.  Sharona is responsible for leading and managing key interactions across the family journey to deliver favorable experiences and results for our families, especially through external educational and learning opportunities.

Sharona is a content contributor for CIP’s Autism and Learning Differences: An Active Learning Teaching Toolkit and has published articles for Autism Parenting Magazine, IECA and Multibriefs. Sharona is an experienced presenter and has held public webinars and educational workshops at many national conferences (LDA, IECA,YATA, HECA, CARD, ASPENN, National Autism Conference, YAI).

Sharona has earned a Diplôme d’études collégiales in Special Care Counseling from Vanier College in Montreal, Canada and has completed several specialized courses in Asperger’s Studies from Elms College. She later earned her Certification in Professional Life Coaching from the Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching (iPEC).

When Sharona is not supporting CIP’s community or presenting valuable educational content, you can find her cooking her family’s favorite recipes, traveling, catching up on the latest documentaries and spending quality time with her husband, David and their dog, Scruffy.
