Sonia has been a licensed marriage and family therapist for 11 years. She specializes in working with neurodivergent teens, adults, and couples/families. She is an anxiety and OCD specialist. Her professional passion is helping her clients learn “cross-cultural” communication between divergent neurotypes. This has been an important part of her work to help people effectively navigate their relationships with friends, partners, coworkers, and family members.
As a clinician working at CIP, Sonia helps to facilitate students’ success in their relationships to self, to friends and family, to work and school responsibilities. Sonia focuses on supporting the students in creating the life that they choose. Sonia earned her master’s degree in counseling psychology from the University of San Francisco. She has gone on to earn advanced specializations in working with couples and families, parent coaching, OCD, and anxiety. She has trained with prominent clinical faculty at Yale and McLean Hospital in Boston.
When Sonia is not at work, she is likely at the beach or seeing live music. She loves spending time with her children and her sweet Cavalier Spaniel.
