Carina has worked in the field of education for over a decade as a summer camp instructor and director, preschool teacher, behavior therapist, curriculum director, and university admissions counselor. She previously found success supporting young children on the spectrum by working 1:1 with clients using applied behavior analysis and working closely with families to achieve individual client goals. She also found success supporting high school and college students by developing a curriculum for training camps that focused on building self-esteem and confidence in students.
As a Student Advisor, Carina helps guide and mentor the young men and women at CIP by facilitating the weekly goal-setting and self-assessment process, tracking and communicating progress, helping teach money management and budgeting, and ensuring that the student has every opportunity to be involved in the direction of their program and services. Carina earned a bachelor’s degree in Child Development and Family Studies from California State University, Long Beach.
She has been a resident of Long Beach for many years and lives with her husband and young daughter. They love the beach and traveling. Carina is also a former dancer and choreographer and loves exploring new forms of exercise.
