Students enjoy swimming, fairs, festivals, alpine slides, hiking, sports, and whale watching field trips in the spring and fall, and skiing, sledding and hockey games in the winter. Visiting museums, bowling, shopping and seeing plays and performances which happen year-round. CIP has weekly activity meetings where students are involved in choosing and planning these events.
At CIP Berkshire, we embrace the visual and performing arts which has made the Berkshire’s of Western Massachusetts a top destination for theater, dance, and contemporary art. Home to Tanglewood and the Boston Symphony Orchestra, Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival, Mass MoCA to name a few, The Berkshire’s has a rich cultural history and modern well-established venues and events.
CIP Berkshire is home to The Good Purpose Gallery and Spectrum Playhouse, CIP’s own professional arts venues. Students participate in annual performances, art shows, and other creative arts activities such as our PEERS in the Playhouse social skills modeling modules. CIP supports students pursuing academic and vocational pathways to the arts with support and guidance from experienced staff.
Public transit runs to Berkshire Community College to and from the same block as CIP Berkshire Center. CIP provides transportation when needed to social activities, college, internships, grocery shopping, and more. CIP Berkshire is within an hour drive from both Albany International Airport in New York and Bradley International Airport in Connecticut.
