The CIP Student Profile
The following information is provided to help better understand the typical type of student enrolled in one of the College Internship Program’s Full-Year Programs.
- Ages 18 to 26 years old
- Diagnosed with a learning difference, ADHD, and/or on the autism spectrum
- Full Scale IQ is typically in the low average to very superior range (80 and above)
- Is capable of college work and/or engaging in career readiness training/skill building
- Does not engage in violence to themselves, others, or property
- Demonstrates no significant behavioral issues; students with limited behavioral issues associated with their diagnoses will be reviewed on an individual basis
- Has no current substance abuse issues and has been substance-free for a period of at least one year prior to enrollment
- Is compliant with prescribed medications (if applicable) and is able to self-administer medications
- Is emotionally and psychologically stable at the time of enrollment
- Once weekly therapy is satisfactory to address therapeutic needs
- May be socially naïve and awkward and is typically immature as compared to others their age
- Is significantly self-directed and requires limited 1:1 intervention/interaction to progress through the day
- Is motivated to attend college and/or prepare for the work world; demonstrates adequate ability to self motivate and self direct
- Elects to enroll themselves; is not court-ordered or otherwise legally compelled to enroll

About 50% of CIP students join us coming from high school and the 50% come from either a college experience or another transition or gap year program.
