Dylan

Dylan grew up on the West Indies Island of St. Kitts and Nevis. After finishing high school, Dylan and his family evaluated various post-secondary options.

”My parents found CIP Brevard and felt it was close enough and something that would be good for me,” Dylan shared.

Initially, Dylan was not planning to attend college and had decided to work in a family business, but he changed his mind after enrolling in CIP.

He is now on a path to earn a certificate as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) through Horizon Healthcare Institute. “I like the work and I can pretty much go anywhere in the US as a CNA,” Dylan commented.

While attending CIP, Dylan has worked as an intern at the Brevard Zoo and Running Zone. He is also interning twice a week at Health First’s Viera Hospital where he helps restock items, prepares beds for patients, and assists nurses.

When asked about how CIP has supported him in gaining new skills, Dylan mentioned that CIP has helped him learn to speak up more, be less shy, and more open. “They helped me figure out how to crush an interview and how to get and do well at a job. I figured out what I wanted to do for my future job with CIP’s help,” he commented.

When asked about advice for someone considering CIP Dylan commented:It’s a good program that will definitely help with independent living and if you’re not sure about going to college, they can push you to figure yourself out. CIP is a path forward in life for me,” he continued.

In his spare time, Dylan enjoys hanging out with friends, listening to music, playing video games, and hiking in nature.

When asked about his future plans Dylan shared “I will wait till the future comes, but I do know I want to live on my own, possibly working as CNA in a hospital.”
