Toby Watts, B.A.

Toby has worked in the field of social work, mental health, and learning differences for over 5 years, first as a Court Appointed Special Advocate, then as a Personal Service Coordinator (Case Manager), and finally as a Life Skills and Wellness Coach at CIP. He previously found success working with transitional-age youth in the foster system, unhoused individuals suffering from mental illness, and young adults with learning differences, helping people overcome challenges, actualize their goals, and lead fulfilling lives.

As a Student Support Specialist, Toby helps the students of C.I.P. gain independence by teaching life skills, wellness, and social skills, one-on-one and in groups, in their homes, and in the community. Toby has earned an undergraduate degree from Long Beach State, where he graduated magna cum laude. He was also chosen to participate in the Mental Health America Jumpstart Fellowship where he was certified as a Mental Health Recovery Specialist. He is currently working on his Master of Counseling Psychology at CSULB, with the intent to become a therapist specializing in neurodiversity and social anxiety disorders.

When he’s not working with students at CIP, you can find him watching anime, running D&D games, reading comic books, or spending time with his husband and their pet rats.
