Alex (they/them/ theirs) has worked in the field of education for four years as a college writing tutor and as a college lecturer. They are experienced in mentorship, academic advising, writing feedback, and curriculum development. Before joining the CIP Berkeley team, Alex previously worked at the Metro College Success Program at San Francisco State University, where they taught courses in Ethnic Studies. They have also taught courses in English and Sociology.
Alex earned a Master’s Degree in Ethnic Studies at San Francisco State University in 2021, where they also earned a Certificate in the Teaching of Composition. They also hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Women and Gender Studies.
Alex is passionate about helping students develop their reading, writing, and time management skills. They currently work as an Academic Coach at CIP where they support students in building personalized academic strategies. Alex also works to support CIP student success by holding students accountable for their schoolwork.
When they are not working with students at CIP, you can find Alex spending time with their companion chihuahua and visiting their local farmers’ market.
