Rebecca started with the College Internship Program in October of 2016. Rebecca has worked with adults with disabilities for over 2 years in a variety of different programs. She has been involved in community outreach projects that get individuals with disabilities involved in the community, vocational work programs that focus on skills needed to gain paid employment, and in home care focused on mentoring individuals on basic life skills. With this experience Rebecca is well versed in a variety of different support styles in order to give the support needed.
Rebecca previously attended LBCC and now attends CSUDH, where she studies psychology. The knowledge that Rebecca has gained through school, in subjects such as behavioral psychology and clinical psychology, has allowed her to apply her knowledge to aid students. These stepping-stones have given Rebecca the knowledge and experience to support students at CIP.
Rebecca began as a job coach, helping individuals with disabilities thrive at their workplace. Rebecca later became a DSP (Direct Support Professional), and supported small groups of individuals with disabilities on their road to employment and community involvement. During this time Rebecca helped create goal-based activities that helped enrich each individual’s life and achieve their personal goals related to employment/independence. Rebecca’s goal is to use these activities to help students find meaningful employment, which can aid them on their road to independence.
During her time off Rebecca enjoys cheering on her favorite hockey team, and being with her family and husband.
