Kayla joined the College Internship Program in November 2016 and held multiple positions in the Career and Advising department including Student Support Specialist.
Kayla graduated from California State University, Los Angeles with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communicative Disorders for Speech Language Pathology and currently looking into graduate programs.
She spent several years at Long Beach Unified School District (LBUSD) working with young adults with Autism, ADHD and other Learning Differences. While at LBUSD she facilitated students transitioning into post high school options, focused on individual mobility training, social skills, life skills and implemented a workability program. Her main goal is to assist students in accomplishing their independent living goals, providing instruction and support tailored to each individual student’s needs.
Kayla is passionate about advocating for individuals with disabilities and ensuring their accommodations or modifications are met.
In her spare time, Kayla enjoys participating in American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and National Student Speech Language Hearing Association (NSSLHA) events, reading, practicing yoga, and going to Disneyland with fellow pass holders.
