Kara graduated from UC Berkeley with a bachelor’s degree in Molecular Environmental Biology. While she was attending UC Berkeley, she worked as a paraeducator as well as a behavior therapist for young children with autism. After graduating she worked as a substitute teacher and mainly worked in Special Education classrooms. Being raised by two teachers she has always valued education and helping others.
Kara found enjoyment working with students in a one-on-one setting and pursued a Masters degree in Counselor Education from San Jose State University. She spent several years working with middle and high school students providing counseling, developing college and career programs, and helping students achieve their goals. Kara is also an experienced dog trainer and event planner.
In her spare time, Kara enjoys hiking, spoiling her 14-year-old Labrador mix, taking weekend trips with her husband, dancing, birding, kayaking, and volunteering for conservation programs.
