As we approach the end of another successful year at the College Internship Program (CIP), we would like to take a moment to share some recent news and updates.
We have been busy expanding our six sites and adding curriculum that will help our students with learning differences experience success in college and the workplace.
The following are a few of our recent enhancements:
The Berkshire Center Massachusetts
In July CIP’s Spectrum Playhouse celebrated it’s Grand Opening in Lee, Massachusetts next door to our flagship Berkshire Center. Since the doors opened, the Playhouse has been filled with student showcases, musical and comedy events and a variety of family friendly productions. The Playhouse staff also offers a new creative arts curriculum that provides classes aimed at training students for employment in the arts.
Our Good Purpose Art Gallery recently celebrated it’s one year anniversary in Lee. The Gallery has quickly become a cultural destination in the Berkshires for art lovers. The newly renovated space has been filled with dozens of shows featuring the work of professional artists who are supportive of CIP’s mission.
The Bloomington Center Indiana
CIP Bloomington is in the process of expanding to include additional space which will be used for special events and a hip new student lounge.
The Brevard Center Florida
CIP Brevard is now offering an equine assisted learning program to help students with social skills deficits. Office and classroom expansion is currently in progress for CIP Brevard, which aims to relocate the center even closer to Brevard Community College and add a performance space.
The Amherst Center New York
CIP Amherst has settled into a bigger space near Daemen College and Erie Community College, which offers popular visual communications and information technology programs.
The Berkeley Center California
CIP Berkeley has moved into a larger location across the street from the original space. The new location provides additional space for students to receive 1 on 1 support as well an amphitheater style classroom.
The Long Beach Center California
Our newest program location has already welcomed visitors from the LA entertainment world. Students enrolled at CIP Long Beach can attend Long Beach City College, or California State University Long Beach.
Career Skills Training & Employment Program (C-STEP)
We have increased our career services for all students. Our C-STEP program offers a more focused career track for students not enrolled at a local college. We strive for internships or job placements for 100% of our students as we prepare them for the world of work.
CIP Summer Program
Now called Summer@CIP, we’ve expanded to include the Beyond High School Summer Program in Melbourne, Florida serving young adults up to the age of 27. Our High School Summer Programs are located at six college and university locations across the US, CIP’s two-week Summer Programs offer valuable pre-college experience and will expand next summer to include programs for college age students as well as high school students.
