It was a busy month for students and staff at CIP Long Beach. On Thursday, March 31st, at Village Glen High School, our student, Harrison, presented to students about transitioning and about his experience at CIP. He presented professionally with a slideshow and made sure to prepare weeks in advance. The students asked many questions and Harrison enjoyed sharing information.
On Saturday, April 16th, CIP Long Beach Center students (Emily, Grant, Claire, and Rachil) volunteered at the Chalk Art Festival hosted by the city of Covina and Autism Highway. Our students helped with set up by blowing up balloons and tying them around the park, helping kids color masks and other crafts at the kids’ art area, and helping with refreshments. Two of the Long Beach Center staff members, Francisco Gutierrez and Crystal Hayes, represented CIP by entering as artists to create a chalk art masterpiece. Everyone enjoyed themselves and loved meeting people from various organizations and the many talented artists who attended.
Still to come — CIP Long Beach students will attend the ACEing Autism 5k run that promotes Autism Awareness. Some of our students will run the actual race and others will volunteer to help with set up, heading the water tables, and helping with clean-up.
