We came. We ate. We sang. We danced. Yes, it was the Brevard Center Holiday Party, and we ended 2010 with a celebration. Competition was fierce in the limbo and musical chairs contests, but we all got together for the “Hot, Hot, Hot” conga line. It was a great way to end a successful semester.
After break, we gathered in January to begin the new semester. Convocation, our first group meeting in 2011, was an opportunity to make new resolutions and get ready to try new things. Therapist Lee Kananack may have put it best by reminding students that small steps make big changes.
Staff presented some ideas that students could put to use to make it happen. Advisor Jodi Pierce gave suggestions on how to avoid procrastinating, and Academic Coordinator Ryan Therriault discussed how pre-planning could reduce anxiety. Residential Coordinator Andrew Milla stressed how important it is that students respect each other. Career Coordinator Jennifer Kolarik reminded students that it’s never too early to get ready for their internships, and Drama Club Coordinator Janet Hrezo challenged students to be creative and get involved in CIP’s art programs.
The new semester is full of possibilities, and working together, we can make it happen!
