This year the cooking classes at The Berkshire Center decided to start a new tradition. Cookie Day! Cooking students, C-STEP students and any students with a little time worked in the kitchen throughout the day and made eight different kinds of cookies to bring to the Holiday party.
Students mixed and chopped, and rolled and powdered, and unwrapped all flavors of Hershey’s kisses. Peanut butter, chocolate, walnuts, and peppermint could be smelled throughout the building and the cookie trays went into the oven one after the other, all day long.
There were gingerbread men and cookie-cutter cookies in all shapes and sizes. Students spread out in the big classroom with trays of cookies and an array of sprinkles and icing and raisins and gumdrops. Christmas music was playing, and when no one was looking, caroling could be heard.
Everyone had great fun, and the result was lots of beautifully decorated cookies. The cookies were a big hit at the Holiday Party and were enjoyed by everyone. Yum!
