On Wednesday, October 12th, several CIP Berkshire students came to the Good Purpose Gallery “after hours” to create and add the final changes to costumes they would be wearing at the New York ComicCon convention.
Pokémon, Batman, and various Ghouls, and Ghosties were definitely present as we figured out just the right formula to create fake blood (4 parts red to 1 part black) and just how to make a batman hood fit! We voted on several versions of Paige’s Pokémon costume until we had a majority vote as to exactly how it should look.
Wesley downloaded photos so we had a good idea of what we were trying to accomplish as we worked from one costume to the next. Lots of Duct tape and fake blood were used as we worked from pictures to get Katie’s costume “just right.” Paige and her sewing skills came in handy and Ryan was a ‘wiz’ with hairspray, comb, and scissors as he styled a wig to go with his costume. I am still trying to get the green spray paint off my hands and will have green nails for at least a few more days!
As you can see by the laughter – the camaraderie, teamwork, and helping each is inspiring and truly what the Gallery is all about. Another great example of putting the good in the Good Purpose Gallery. The feedback from attending the actual convention is that their costumes were a hit and everyone had a wonderful time meeting and greeting their favorite characters and being with each other.
