Shannon Doran joined College Internship Program in 2014. She comes from a family of artists, engineers, and teachers. Motivated to use her teaching and counseling skills to promote the emotional and career development of youth, Shannon earned her M.Ed. in School Guidance Counseling form the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 2013. Since that time, Shannon has chaired the Government Relations Committee for the state school counselor organization, piloted a school counselor position for an after- school program, helped coordinate a new summer program for English Language Learners, and worked as a temporary guidance counselor and special education teacher. In addition to teaching and developing career development courses at CIP, Shannon currently coordinates internship for the MCAS Pathways to Success Program at Holyoke Community College. She also volunteers with the Hampshire/Franklin County Youth Services Council and is the co-chair for the Reach Higher Massachusetts Career Development Workgroup. Her long-term goal is to contribute to the career development movement that is moving across Massachusetts and the country, while helping individuals make informed, satisfying, and supportive career decisions. Furthermore, she aims to help students discover and utilize strategies that will help them achieve their academic and career goals.
In her spare time, Shannon enjoys learning more about her field, hiking, dancing, singing, and spending time with the people who are dear to her.
