By Janet Hrezo, Brevard Center Staff
The Brevard Center was the scene of a crime when the Drama Club presented “Murder Mystery Grill ‘n Chill” on October 1st. Students and staff joined the actors in discovering clues, examining motives for the murder and finding the “killer” in an exciting twist to our usual Friday get-together.
Thanks to Dave Friedland, Drew Hodgen, Sam Kirby, Charlie Nielsen, Zack Smuckler, Peter Snell, Moultrie Woodall and our special guest victim, Ross Morgan, for making it happen.
David Friedland began his internship at the Brevard Zoo’s “Hands on Petting Zone”. In addition to grounds keeping and assisting visitors, David’s job requires that he learn the names and information about all the animals there. Currently, David’s putting together a PowerPoint presentation with pictures of the animals to help him learn about them individually and hopes the zoo will be able to use it in the future to aid other new volunteers.
The 2010 Walk Now for Autism Speaks is November 13th and the Brevard Center is getting ready to participate. The walk is the major fundraising event for Autism Speaks which promotes increasing awareness of autism spectrum disorders, research and advocacy for individuals with autism and their families. Brevard’s team, Shift Happens, has a goal this year is to raise $35,000.
