Charlie N., a first year student, is our Wellness Student of the Month for August. Charlie’s favorite part of his individual health and wellness session is learning how to perform different exercises properly. Individually, Charlie strives to accomplish the goals set forth in his Personal Fitness Contract.
Exercise goals he is working towards this month include mastering the jump rope, learning different stretching exercises and running longer and more consistently. His six-week personal goals range from healthy eating to time management skills.
Before Charlie came to the Brevard Center he worked daily with a personal trainer. After losing 25 pounds and dropping his cholesterol by 100 points this past year, Charlie gained the motivation to succeed and, this fall, he is continuing that success in the Health & Wellness Program.
The great sense of accomplishment he gets from continually increasing the number of kettlebell swings he does in a session as well as his improvement in his 800 m sprint time helps him both physically and mentally. During workouts, Charlie stays motivated by listening to his instructor count down the repetitions and he continues to push his workouts for faster times and better technique.
Always prepared with a gym bag and sneakers, Charlie sets an example for other students to follow. WAY TO GO CHARLIE!
