Jane has been an active participant in her own wellness, showing up consistently with an eagerness to learn and a willingness to work hard. She comes in with her own ideas and is still open to try new challenges.
She has also taken on the responsibility of being the student captain of the Student Vs. Staff Walking competition that will begin in April and states that she “is looking forward to beating the staff” in the walking competition.
Jane’s Motivation Tip to Fellow Students:
“Focus on your goals and work hard to reach your goals”
Here are some other thoughts from Jane about wellness:
Q: What is your favorite wellness activity?
Dance workouts are active but fun. Wellness sessions help me feel successful with all the workouts I’m learning. I find wellness very fun.
Q: What were some challenges?
The obstacle course was challenging but I got through. I felt tired but with a sense of accomplishment. It feels nice to know I’ve been working hard.
Q: What are some changes that have occurred since you created wellness goals?
I feel I’ve been losing weight and I feel better about myself. Going to the grocery store and learning about what’s healthy has been helpful. I feel I’ve been eating healthier and making healthier choices.
Q: What have you learned that has been surprising or different?
Different exercises I didn’t know how to do before. Now that I’ve learned them I can do them on my own.
Q: What have been your wellness goals?
To lose weight, eat healthier, and learn exercises I can do on my own.
Q: Were there challenges to accomplishing those goals?
Seeing people eat junk food and not eating it too. I’ve been eating hummus and healthier foods lately rather than the junk food.
Q: What has helped you stay motivated despite the challenges?
Knowing that I’ve worked hard and keeping my eye on the goal has helped.
