Students and staff got together on November 19 for a Thanksgiving potluck lunch at the Brevard Center. The food was delicious and included turkey and the usual holiday side dishes, as well as ham, brisket and chicken. It was a great way to celebrate Thanksgiving together before the holiday break.
Program Director Joan Williamson began the festivities by asking each attendee what he or she was most thankful for. The Drama Club provided the entertainment, and we discovered some real facts about Thanksgiving during Brevard’s First Annual Thanksgiving Quiz, devised by Therapist Lee Kananack.
We also welcomed some special guests. Academic Coordinator Ryan Therricault brought her husband DJ, her mom Pat Curry and her son Darren. Residential Coordinator Anthony Milla brought his daughter Jaycee. The kids were a delight and helped make this a real family event.
Members of the Drama Club – David Friedland, Drew Hodgen, Sam Kirby, Charlie Nielsen and Zach Smuckler – performed improvisations with the help of some guest actors. First year student Ross Morgan filled in for an ailing club member and Ryan, Lee and Social Mentor Rob Wilkes all joined in a game of “Questions.” Darren, Ryan’s almost 3-year-old son, stole the show during “Props.” Thanks to all for the great food and fun. We do have many things to be grateful for!
