The Life Skills program at CIP helps students on the autism spectrum or with learning differences gain executive functioning and life skills competencies such as organizing, cooking, cleaning, and living independently in an apartment.
Last week at CIP Long Beach, Evan J chose to practice making mashed potatoes from scratch. This was his first attempt at making mashed potatoes, and he was very pleased with the final result. He was so happy, that he decided to make them for his family’s Thanksgiving meal. Evan started CIP in August, and has been working on increasing his culinary skills. This dish was a challenge, but Evan came out successful.
Students at CIP Long Beach also enjoyed a Thanksgiving themed potluck, complete with their own turkey.
Weekend activities had the students going to Venice Beach, seeing the new Hunger Games movie, and going to The Grove.
