During these visits, the OT students are meeting with individual CIP students and facilitating small group activities for our CIP students to participate in and enjoy.
Newspaper Houses Video
The OT students talk to our students individually to learn about the important aspects of their lives, they then assist in developing steps towards becoming more independent and meeting others goals our students have. The OT students are also facilitating Sensory Profiles on each of our students and designing individualized sensory processing diets for our students to use on their own while monitoring their results.
The group sessions are designed to help with social skills, self esteem, lifestyle balance and stress management. The video posted is from their first classroom session. The exercise: break up into two groups and, together, build a newspaper house that everyone in the group can fit in. Both groups came up with different, unique designs—everyone worked together in a very focused, yet organic way and had a total blast working cooperatively.
