Writer and producer Emily Iland visited CIP Berkeley on December 2 for a full day of interactive events. During the afternoon, Emily provided an extensive training for the CIP Berkeley staff that included insight into skills that are important when working with young adults with Learning Differences.
The afternoon training was followed by a free interactive screening of Be Safe The Movie. The movie screening was open to the public and was attended by staff, students, members of the community and the Berkeley Police Department.
Be Safe is a new video teaching individuals with ASD and LD how to interact safely with the police. Teaching safe behaviors directly to teens and adults is essential for preventing problems during police encounters. The screening was interactive, so many of the students and other attendees were able to participate and learn new skills during this unique event.
