Travis McArthur, CIP Berkshire Residential Coordinator
The students at CIP attended this year’s Comic Con in New York City. New York Comic Con is the East Coast’s biggest popular culture convention. The show floor has the latest and greatest in comics, graphic novels, anime, manga, video games, toys, movies, and television.
The students were able to interact with panels and receive autographs from their favorite writers, actors, and creators. They also had the opportunity to get a sneak peek at film and television shows months before they hit either the big or small screen.
New York Comic Con is the second largest pop culture convention in America attracting over 77,000 attendees; it was ranked as the second largest event in New York City! Our students dressed up as their favorite anime or comic book character, and received free comics, autographs, attended free private screenings, and got a chance to be photographed with Lou Ferrigno, TV’s the incredible Hulk!
The students all said they had a blast! They were well received at the convention and loved to show off their amazing homemade costumes. Jimmy D’Ambrosio dressed up as his favorite anime character, Alan Walker. He was asked by lots of people to be photographed, and received a lot of attention from fellow fans. Chris Toomey, a first year student, commented, “It was overwhelming, the amount of people all dressed up in costumes, but I had a great time, and would love to go again next year!”
