By Lance Haskins, CIP Brevard Wellness Coordinator
I would like to spotlight an outstanding CIP Brevard Center Student. David F. has done an outstanding job in not only with his overall wellness, these past few years at CIP, but he has also shown growth and improvement in several other areas as well. When I asked David recently about what are some of the things that he thought he had improved on in the last few years here he said “I learned more about nutrition; and that people thought I would never be able to do a college class… I guess I beat them on that.”
Dave shows up ready and eager to work, or work out and have fun doing it. He always sets a great example not only for other students but for the staff also. Dave always goes the extra mile doing more than what is required. He goes to all the weekend activities and even comes up with some of his own. He regularly volunteers for community service events.
It is also awesome the way Dave continues to run 5K’s and other local races, consistently placing in the top 10 in his age group. He did quite well competing in this year’s Fitness Challenge, winning the 200 meter run and the rows with weights event. Dave also placed 2nd in the 100 & the 800 meter runs and 3rd in the core crossovers event and 3rd doing curls with weights. Not only has Dave improved in several events since last year’s Fitness Challenge but Dave finished this year in 3rd place overall with 2381 repetitions. He did all this while keeping up his great spirit and attitude that he has.
