As part of CIP’s Summer Program, Dr. Jared Cochran welcomed our Summer@CIP students to his Molecular and Cellular Biochemistry Lab on the Campus of Indiana University. Dr. Cochran’s research aims to investigate the structure and function of two molecular motor proteins to understand how they generate motion to perform work with the hope of one day finding a cure for diseases such as Cancer, Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s Disease. While at the lab Dr. Cochran gave us a guided tour of the facilities and performed an experiment with the students to discover how many proteins there are in an egg. The students loved getting to see the lab at work and Dr. Cochran was very engaging and enthusiastic about his what he does. It truly was a great day to be a part of Summer@CIP in Bloomington!
