Holly Brouker, Berkshire Health & Wellness Coordinator / Community Outreach Coordinator
Charlie Edson has found a nice niche for himself at the Berkshire Nautilus Fitness Center
in Pittsfield, MA.
Charlie began his internship last spring working closely with Glenn McBurney manager of the Fitness Center. Glenn let Charlie shadow him as he went about his duties at the front desk and on the floor fixing and maintaining the equipment. It wasn’t long before Charlie was answering the phone, and assisting the front desk staff as well as having regular maintenance duties as his responsibility.
Glenn shared with the career office at CIP that Charlie was a wonderful addition to Berkshire Nautilus. The staff and members love having him there and of course Charlie just loved being there as well.
Berkshire Nautilus also has a fitness store which sells and services home fitness equipment. It wasn’t long before Jim Ramonetta (owner) began taking Charlie along with him into client’s homes to help him set up or fix new equipment in the home setting. Sometimes, Jim would give Charlie a call for help outside of his regular internship hours and Charlie would jump to assist. Charlie was thrilled when he received a set of tools as a Christmas present from Jim thanking him for all his hard work and dedication.
CIP was lucky to benefit from Charlie’s efforts as well. Jim Ramonetta donated a used tread mill they did not need any more at his facility to the CIP Wellness program. We were very appreciative of this wonderful gift as a great addition to our fitness equipment. The tread mills at the CIP Berkshire Fitness Foundation are used daily in just about every class and some students even come on their free time and use them. Charlie maintains both of the tread mills we have and helps run a fitness circuit class for the CIP students on Wednesday morning.
At CIP Berkshire we continue to support Charlie as he pursues a Physical Fitness certificate at Berkshire Community College and are so very proud of all he has accomplished in his role at Berkshire Nautilus and in his studies.
