By Katie Sutton, Berkshire Career Coordinator
The career department is off to a successful semester at the Berkshire Center. I recently met with the program director at Community Access to the Arts (CATA) who has an interest in collaborating with CIP.
CATA is an organization that creates and nurtures creativity of people with differences through shared experiences in the visual and performing arts. When they originally heard about CIP from the previous career coordinator last semester, they were very interested in learning more about our students and the services we provide.
When visiting CATA recently, I was blown away by the wonderful people that work there and all the hard work they do with individuals with differences throughout Berkshire County. They were interested in learning all they could about CIP and how we can make this partnership happen in the near future.
As we all know, there are many new exciting changes happening at the Berkshire Center, and hopefully collaborating with this organization will add to all the excitement! CATA is willing to have our students work as interns doing various tasks, as well as having their teachers come to our center to do art and music therapy with our students.
We also brainstormed ways our programs can come together once our art gallery and performing arts center are up and running. I hope that we can really take advantage of this wonderful opportunity and watch CIP grow in the process!
